Child's Kitchen

Child's Kitchen

After looking at all the plastic kitchens on the market, I started looking at alternative play kitchens for my daughter.  Below are some of the inspirational kitchens I looked at before designing my own.  The images are linked to the original websites, if you want to check them out.

I also was inspired by Dishfunctional Design collection of play kitchens.

I started by finding a piece of furniture and kitchen parts that I liked. Then I made some decisions about the functionality of the kitchen, such as food storage was more important than a refrigerator, a over was more important than a microwave, and I needed a sink and burners.  Once I had all the parts I needed, I laid the parts out on the kitchen to make sure it all fit adequately.  I finally started to assemble the kitchen by cutting out a hole for the sink and drilling holes for the knobs. I also added a back splash, shelves on one side and hooks on the other.  Behold my play kitchen!

My daughter broke the door off, so I have updated this project. Please go check out the update!!
